First RISC OS Distro for Pi?

Setting a font in the base configuration isn’t a problem, but it won’t be an outline font. Although you can use outline fonts to display the text, editing is currently full of issues, caret placement, selection, no tabs allowed. StrongED wasn’t designed with outline fonts in mind, even getting simple editing to work correctly would take quite a bit of work. At the moment I’ve only written the redraw engine and some basic code so that line wrap is half decent. As for the other issue, just collecting my thoughts. Will get back to y’all shortly. |

Since StrongEd is packaged, (and presumably you are in control of which version goes out), could you not grant a generic permission to distribute a managed version? Just requiring a notification that it has been done. (i.e. the image has a package manager, and SE is installed via that, prior to distribution.) (In effect, that would be no different to a recommended packages option that is run after distribution.) P.S. (OT) I suppose there’s no chance of StrongEd for windows ever? |

I have put the Risc OS Distribution onto an SD Card and it boots up and works. Risc OS seams faster to respond than the Unix offerings. |

This is probably the wrong place to put these comments about issues. Would it be possible to put Messenger PRO, grapevine and his (rcomp) network drivers on the pi commercial list. |

I recently had a similar problem when testing (after rewrite on a card) on my BB-xM with a self-created image. |

I am probably in the wrong place for this, but I have installed the image on the sd card and booted riscos. Next instruction is to set time and date etc. I assume there is command prompt keyword for this but I cant seem to find it. If i go into the desktop, clicking on !boot does not give me !configure but tells me I can not alter this machine. Setting the time with the alarm app does not work as ‘set clock’ is grayed out. I presume all these problems are because i have no hard drive 4 but I’ll end up with directories made in the 1970s if I just put the hd4 file structure onto the fat partition. |

General support is the community support, but in this instance you are using the alpha release for the Pi so you are in the right spot.
There is a configure option accessible by double-clicking on the !Boot directory or by using the middle (menu) button on the mouse over the switcher icon (right hand most on the icon bar) but this is only accessible if the machine booted correctly. Given the following comment the Boot did not run correctly:
You may want to download and install the distro available at http://www.svrsig.org/RISCOS_Distro.zip |

Just got time to follow your instructions Steve. That image worked a treat and I’m posting using Netsurf. I used win32image to install to the sd card. Thanks !! |

Who needs WIN? You can also use !SDCreate with the “Write image” option on a xM, Panda etc. ;-) |

Linux on a notepad PC, etc. I was assuming Ken, and others reading, would be new to RISC OS and probably have one of those rather common room heaters handy. :-) |

or sometimes this Windows laptop – which has now proved this switch has decent connectivity to the outside world so I suppose it’s back to the office to find more work. :-) |

I got my Pi a few days ago – with my TV set and HDMI and the RISC OS Distro mentioned here it worked immediately! Question arising is how I can prepare the SD card such that I can use the full 8GB disc space and not just a bit less than 2 GB. Using HForm works fine … but wipes all so that the SD card is pretty useless thereafter (as I expected). |
