Rather than lots of separate announcements, here’s a single, combined post about our various releases and show announcements… (in no particular order!) Messenger Pro 8 – supports RISC OS 5.24, adds SSL/TLS support for POP and SMTP as well as IMAP, has better understanding of how to handle sending from multiple email address, is faster, and contains lots of improvements across the software. Examples range from attachment handling to HTML email tweaks to URL/link handling to mail backup etc. CD editions also include Win/Mac version which can be used standalone or to complement MPro’s built-in server/sharing capabilities. NetFetch 5 saw an update this last week (on the CDs at the show). If you’ve already upgraded, download via !Store. If not, we’d recommend doing so at the show (or any other way!) SafeStore 3 – not quite out at the show, but you can buy early access to this and receive various bits now, and more stuff as time goes on. Lots of updates small and large, based one working with various commerical customers (and regular users) resolving “real life” issues with network storage devices, filing systems and the various oddities that happen in the real world! PiFi v3 – turn your Pi into a wireless access point for one or more other desktop machines (eg. ARMX6, TiMachine/Titanium etc). PiFi v3 integrates with the RISC OS desktop as never before. Forget clunky browser-based config, PiFi 3 makes WiFi (almost) as seemless as it is on Windows or other platforms. (Likely to be demonstration only, as programmer is still working as I type). There might be, erm, you know, a /small/ hardware announcement too… Quake – released at SW Show in Feb – has had a major revamp utilising the VFP floating point capabilities of modern hardware for up to 3x performance increase. This allows 60fps smooth gameplay in a range of resolutions etc. To help you best take advantage of this newfound performance, pre-set profiles are provided for extra high resolution, balanced (speed vs resolution), smoothness/speed and widescreen. The presets will tailor themselves for a range of modern ARM machines including ARMX6, Titanium or Pi3. Doom / Wolfenstein 3D – Doom Trilogy pack launched late last year, but has been updated with new Doom engine improvements. More significantly, Wolfenstein 3D has been made ARMv7/v8 compatible with the aid of Jonathan Abbott of JASPP. The new version launches as part of Doom Trilogy at the show or on !Store now. DP Genealogy Records sees a free update to cover format changes that have occurred in various online/web-based family history sites. Again, download via !Store available now. Minor tweaks and updates for TiMachine/Titanium – high resolution screen wibble fix(es) + dual head tweaks. |
