ADFFS 2.68 released

ADFFS 2.68 is now available for download from JASPP. Major changes for RISC OS 5 users include:
Over the coming weeks JASPP will be releasing all the CIS and TOPOLOGIKA titles that the project has received to date, along with a few titles that individual authors have granted permission to release. Videos of these can be found on the JASPP YouTube channel
If you have originals of any CIS titles not listed above, please get in touch – they’re missing from the project archive. And if you’ve missed them, we’ve recently released the following titles:
Giant Killer and Exodus both natively run on RISC OS 5. Lemmings 2 has already been released by the project, this release only runs on StrongARM 26bit RISC OS and is not currently supported by ADFFS on RISC OS 5. I have to give particular thanks to David Raven, formely of Cambridge International Software, for granting permission to the CIS titles and André Timmermans for coding a DSymphonyPlayer to TimPlayer shim, allowing Exodus to be released. |

I’ve tried the 32-bit Exodus on a Raspberry Pi 3+ (with RISC OS 5.24). It starts up OK, and shows the ARTEX logo screen, then the screen shows the planet. That stays on screen until I press any key, and it silently exits back to the desktop. Has anyone else got the 32-bit Exodus running? What hardware are you using? Sorry I took so long to try this. I’ve been away from my Iyonix for years, and when I last visited my parents house it didn’t start up at all, so I got this Pi 3b+ so I could play with RISC OS again. |

May be relevant: When Exodus starts, the ARTEX logo is over to the left side of the screen, and then the planet is in the top left, with another tiled copy of the same to the right of it. Maybe my 1920×1080 LCD doesn’t like the mode? |

When I run with AnyMode after running Exodus, the monitor goes blank and says, “The current input timing is not supported by the monitor display. Please change your input timing to 1920×1080, 60Hz or any other monitor listed timing as per the monitor specifications.” Pressing a key gets back to the desktop. |

I replied on JASPP as this site is next to impossible to use these days – it’s taken me the best part of an hour to login. In short, it sounds like you have GPU mode change support enabled. This completely breaks games and will need to be disabled. AnyMode is not required and will cause the symptom you’ve described if GPU mode change support is enabled. I’d say the game is asking for MODE X, getting MODE Y and then quitting without reporting why. |

I believe the trick is not to go to any of the forum pages first, but go to the top page, log in there, and then click through to the forum. (I agree it’s a pain, but it does seem to work.) |
