Maybe, but then we were seeing similar issues with a different Windows 10 laptop that did have HDMI out… Normally we’d connect the laptop directly to the projector, but this year we managed to misplace the long VGA cable!
Easier yes, but not cheap. |

Congratulations to Leo on producing the videos so well and so quickly. As a general point, perhaps for future show presentations that are recorded, if it is impractical to provide a microphone for when the audience ask questions, then presenters should be asked to repeat the gist of the question into their microphone. This would stop the frustration of hearing the recorded answer but not knowing what the question was! |

In addition to Martin’s comment about repeating/recording audience questions, a Mic on the presenter or feed from the PA Mic to the camera would help, I struggled to understand a word Andrew was saying. |

That was indeed the plan, and everything was working fine when tested just before the show opened. Unfortunately at the point Chris was getting mic’d up for the first talk it had all gone a bit pear shaped, with none of the mics working and no audio feed to the camera. We got the presenter’s mic working again for the first few talks, but it failed again for Andrew’s (You can see that he’s wearing one mic, and holding a second). All a tad annoying as at previous shows its been quite reliable. |

After watching ROOL’s presentation, it was good to see comments about ROOL wanting to keep an eye on code quality. I’m aware of another product that was traditionally closed source but was opened up a few years ago. The code went onto GitHub and virtually every code change was accepted… and this once-stable app now crashed left, right and centre as soon as you did anything “strange” with it. Naturally we don’t want that to happen to RISC OS! |

I have to say, Steve, having watched your talk just now, that the errs are not all that noticeable unless the viewer is you. It was an interesting talk, well-delivered. |

Closed source can be exactly the same. Cisco Firepower. Malware/exploit security hash updates twice a week or more – had a number of buggy updates that when deployed cause a hanging process that then means no rule updates are possible until the problem is corrected. |
