With ref to the change in venue of the SW Show 2019 to Bristol – any ideas of how to use RiscOSM to find the Hotel? Thanks |

As well as finding it on maps like RiscOSM… I’ve saved video files recorded on my dash cam heading past the hotel, and coming into the area from three main routes when I’ve happened to be heading in from the right direction to do so. At some point ‘soon’ (er… before the show!) I’ll go through them save out screen grabs at key points, and type up a set of directions to go with them. I’ll then put that online – so people will have directions with visual markers. I should have three main routes covered:
The only obvious main alternative I can think of (where I’m never in the right direction) would be to come in on Bath Road itself from the direction of, well, Bath! I’ll have to make a special trip out in that direction to cover that one, if I can’t find an actual reason to head out that way. (Perhaps head out in that direction for a walk at some point). That should cover all the obvious routes, unless someone can think of another? The alternatives I can think of would really be poor alternatives to those. (For example, coming in from Avonmouth via The Portway – if you’re coming up the M5, you should come in via the A38, and if you’re coming down, via the M4/M32). |

The important thing for people to note is the text on the site that says: " The hotel is close to the main railway station, has good public transport links and a large car park." (actually I corrected the “staion” typo so it’s not a true quote) Google maps shows that as a 10-minute journey on a bus that is every 6 minutes. |

Providing the helper application Nominatim has been seen, and you have an internet connection, you can type “Arnos Manor Hotel, Bristol” or even just “Arnos Manor Hotel” into RiscOSM’s new map dialogue and click the Nominatim search button just to the right of the “Name” field in the new map window. Or, if RiscOSM has been booted and you are browsing this forum on RISC OS, you can just click this link and the map will open in RiscOSM. |

With ref to the 2019 SW RISC OS show. Is there a map of the Bristol Temple Meeds railway station? Where do you go – to catch a bus to the Hotel? Walking route 20Mins! – what is the best route? As a note – looks as if there is regular bus service from Bristol Airport. And a Draw map – for NetSurf Users on the SW Show web site. Thanks |

Where do you go – to catch a bus to the Hotel? Walk to the bottom of the station approach and turn left. In about 20 yards along the main road, that side, you will find a bus stop. First Bus number 1 goes to Broomhill via Arnos Vale and runs every 10 mins (every 30 mins in the evening). Use this site and search for Arnos Court 0100BRA10445 and for Temple Meads 0100BRP90317 and you will get a real time departure list. The hotel is 2km from Temple Meads. |
