Where do you get FFPlay and FFMpeg?

A few thoughts:

• It could do with a quality choice, if the channel permits it. EuroNews plays on my ARMv7 Pi2, and the video appears to be running just a little under realtime, which isn’t bad. It freezes frequently (requiring FFplay to be taskkilled) but that might just be my crappy WiFi?
  Das Erste, on the other hand, is HD so if I’m lucky I get one frame every thirty or so seconds. ;-)

• Can you read any information or status back from FFplay? MTV and Kika don’t play at all – they may be geoblocked.

For British channels, I found https://easyview.eu/ and following the stream by snooping on what it is doing gives me an m3u8 file (https://waw.easyview.eu/hls/bbc-1.m3u8) that plays on my phone, but reports input/output error with FFplay:

If you open the m3u8 file with an Editor often you find a list of streams. Chose one with a lower resolution/bandwith.

The best results are on Titanium.
With my PiTop I use a PiB3+ and a surfstick connection. Works more or less but better with lower streams.

If you will record a radionstream, remove -showmode 1 before you press “Record”.
You can also try -showmode 2 …

None in the BBC m3u8 file, it was more like:

A lot of things to do but I need feedback so I have upload !Streamer with a rudimental youtube support.
Sorry, Drag&Drop will not work… I work on it. I’m only a stupid user.
Please use IcnClipBrd to copy the VideoURL.
It needs a working !Phyton and !Youtube-dl. Look at the other post to update. Both must be seen by the filer.
You need also !FFPlay and !FFMpeg … also seen by the filer.
[Play>] “search” the videourl silend if it gets no error and play the videostream without download. [Download] will open a TaskWindow and save the video in the “activ Dir”… :-(
Works for me..

On both Pi Chromium and !Netsurf I can’t download !Streamer… It errors “404 Not Found”.

Have fixed any problems (data aborts) with YouTube-dl in combination with !Zap and !StrongED and with different hardware (Pi, Ti, MX6).

Without Chris Gransdens YouTube-dl/Python and Christoper Martins FFMpeg/FFPlay it is nothing so many thanks to them…

Will upload a reduced “Player” next few days.
Only a Icon on the iconbar… drag the YouTube URL on it and it try to Play…

The reduced player is “ready” now. It does nothing further than wait for someone to drag a youtube URL to the iconbar icon.
Then the “machinery” starts …
If all goes well ffplay will play the video, if not, maybe there is an error message …

The last version of !YTPlay. I should work on the artwork for the icons ;-)
The program icon should change depending on state …
1. Wait for the “drop”
2. Download the “StreamURL” … take some time.
3. Play

At 3. it try to find out if ffplay is running, generally. Can already run without YTPlay. It should only be active one times. Quit with Q or [ESC].

For me works youtube URL from Netsurf or a previously stored (Text), stored station/m3u8 (type data … should be created as a default when downloading) or a Netsurf text-save-link …

I can confirm this works on my ARMX6 so yet more reasons to only fire up a Windows machine when required.

It’s great that we still have developers like yourself giving us end users excellent applications so once again a big thank you.

I think we might have have a theme for our MUG November meeting to cut short the “Can it play Youtube video’ yet” arguements.

It fits in to the whole RISC OS ethos of helper addons to supplement the core elements as well.
