DBack and DRest updated

I’ve just updated DBack and DRest (David’s Backup and David’s Restore) on my web site: https://davehigton.me.uk The new feature is encryption of the backup, and of course corresponding decryption on restoration. This is done with Blowfish encryption in cipher block chaining mode. The apps were written so as to be very fast in use, and not to stall or fail if one or more files can’t be backed up for some reason. It’s now over to you, the RISC OS general public, to find the mistakes that I couldn’t! The apps are released under the GPL. They are written in uncrunched BASIC, so you all have the source. I’ve updated the front page of my website, to request that anyone linking to my site only does so to the top level, and that people don’t distribute unmodified copies of my apps but rather link to my site. Since most of my stuff is GPL, I’m happy that anyone can distribute their own modified versions, of course. Explanations are on my website. |
