And in case anyone doesn’t recognise the name/get the joke, an alternative name for it might be ‘the Steve Martin’ Now I’m going to go back to watch the second half of Contagion. |

In the same box, yes. Talking to each other? Apple doesn’t play well with others…
Uh, that looks like somebody trying to write down what evil laughter sounds like.
What’s that, BBC News 24? |

I’ve got MoonFish running on my Pi, and the Mac (Mojave) reads and writes that just fine (although it does leave forks all over the place). Both the Mac and the Pi can see the NAS, but the Pi can’t see anything on the Mac with anything I’ve got on either. |

Actually, it looks (& possibly sounds) like the pandemic (ghuhrhu) in my novel Birgom’s Diary (published BEFORE Covid-19 struck). |

Chimera A chimera is essentially a single organism that’s made up of cells from two or more "individuals"—that is, it contains two sets of DNA, with the code to make two separate organisms. |

Chimera can also mean “a thing which is hoped for but is impossible to achieve” which may not be viewed as a positive attribute. My vote goes to “TiX”. |

Duo or Duet? |

What about the two headed character from Hitch Hikers guide ? |
Ian Cook (420) 11 posts |
@Colin Ferris He’s called Zaphod Beeblebox. |
Clive Semmens (2335) 3276 posts |
BeeblebRox – unfortunately. Otherwise it gets nice round back to being Beeb Box. |
John WILLIAMS (8368) 493 posts |
It was actually Beeblebrox, but perhaps your version is more appropriate in this case! The Zaphod RISCOSbox? |

Thinking further along the multi-headed theme, how about Cerberus? Nice classical name! Not to be confused with the brand of salt of a similar, but different, name! |
Rick Murray (539) 13840 posts |
What, you mean like “I’d really like one of those but it’s so far out of my budget it isn’t funny”? |
Stuart Swales (1481) 351 posts |
Yeah to ‘Chimera’ – this was my favourite name for what became Fireworkz! And ‘Zaphod’ was what Brian Cockburn (he of Econet and other RISC OS bits) used to call my brother. Cerberus is pretty appropriate. |

Hfuhruhurr Okay, for those who need to, meet Doctor Michael Hfuhruhurr (and Ann Uumellmahaye) And for a more serious suggestion, how about Fusion? |
John WILLIAMS (8368) 493 posts |
I wonder if the suggestor of the eventually-chosen name ought to get a free one? Or, at the very least, heavily discounted! |

Or, to keep in with the boxen theme, FuseBox? |
Jeffrey Lee (213) 6048 posts |
Probably too easily confused with the Spectrum emulator “Fuse”. |

Just a small prize then? |

What about AmbsARM – not quite right as there’s only only ARM. Or ARMDuo? Or FastARM? |
Steve Pampling (1551) 8170 posts |
Now you have me thinking that with a guitar synth in it it might be called Slow hand. |
Grahame Parish (436) 481 posts |
ARM-and-a-leg? Covers the cost angle too! :-} |

There’s lots of good ideas, although I’m still not sure we’ve found the perfect one. I like ARMulti (or Ti) – that combines our naming conventions very effectively. ARMpc or ARM-PC is also right on point – can’t believe I didn’t think of that myself! TiX seems to be getting a lot thumbs-up too. That only falls down if I can source iMX6 boards as a cheaper version TiX and MiX maybe? I’m afraid I don’t “get” AmbsARM Chris – am I being ignorant? I also like Duet – goes well with the minim and its musical naming theme. I’m afraid I shied away from Cerberus as it traditionally has a third head (I suppose dual-boot linux?) and also has hellish connotations. Not ruling it out, especially if you would like a third OS. Chimera is similar – three animals (goat, lion, serpent) – fantastic name for Fireworkz though, Stuart, I quite agree! Interestingly, when I checked into DIY mac stuff, they recommend having a windows drive too, so that’d be a fun DIY project to make your own Cerberus/Chimera ;) Fusion – I think there are already some products with similar names, so it would be difficult to avoid treading on toes. I can’t quite recall, but I think one was a special Pi case designed for schools and teaching electronics. It is at the back of my brain from an old PC Pro article, but I can’t find it on Google. Prizes – I’m afraid I’m not wealthy enough to offer a free system, John. I’d be happy to do one at cost, though, so that’d be about a 10-15% saving. |

Could just be honest and call it the “arse-kicker”? “Both worlds”? (to lend itself to a sci-fi theme) “Paradox”? ;-)
Hindu goddess would be my guess. Didn’t they come with numerous arms?
The x86 part, it can run Windows, yes? |
