FTPc 1.56

I’ve just updated FTPc to fix authentication with servers that require the reuse of the authentication already established on another connection. It requires AcornSSL 1.06 which should be available in ROOL’s HardDisc4 distribution tomorrow. |

I guess the time it took to get the AcornSSL Re-Use code in to the downloads was to avoid security holes appearing like the GnuTLS re-use of previous authenticated session security issue? Anyway thanks Colin for the FTPc update and update to AcornSSL as well. |

Thanks for this update. Is someone going to update the PackMan distribution to match? |

I could probably do the PackMan distribution, but I’m not sure what to do about the dependency on AcornSSL. Does that exist on all versions of RISC OS from 4 onwards? |

AcornSSL is generally supplied in the Boot sequence not the ROM. It is compatible with RISC OS 4, I’m pretty sure, because it was originally used by !Browse, Acorn’s own web browser. However there was a huge gap when the module was not available, so you cannot assume it is already installed. |

Note also that AcornSSL is dependent on !Internet.files.CertData existing, and preferably being reasonably up-to-date. It is also in the (development) HardDisc boiot sequence. |

CertData and AcornSSL should ideally be in separate packages with dependencies and be supplied from ROOL sources, so all RISC OS installs can be kept up to date. The current process of having to manually downloading odd files here and there from random sources, and having to hunt through HardDisk images, really needs to be cast into history. |

FTPc continues to work without AcornSSL like it continued to work without rcomps ssl module previously. |
