The June 2020 issue of The WROCC – the newsletter of the Wakefield RISC OS Computer Club – is on its way out to members across the UK and beyond this weekend. Since lockdown started in March, we’ve tried to produce slightly larger issues each month by way of a distraction — and Issue 3 of Volume 38 is no exception, with over 6,000 words about RISC OS hardware and software. It contains a report on a project to import Unicode text from Tesseract OCR into RISC OS using ConvText, gives a user’s view of an ARMbook, and tells of a happy ending with an ARMbook and Wispy V. We have a review of an ASUS PB278QV monitor from R-Comp, and look at the recent improvements made to RPCEmu from the perspective of a daily user. See https://www.wrocc.org.uk/newsletter for more details of recent issues, and to download samples of older issues. Able to trace its roots directly back to the first Wakefield Club newsletter in April 1983, these days The WROCC is produced in an A5 booklet layout and copies are delivered free to WROCC members in PDF format. Membership of the Club costs £15 per year with a reduced rate of £7.50 for the first year… and despite our name, there are no geographical restrictions. |
