The July 2020 issue of The WROCC – the newsletter of the Wakefield RISC OS Computer Club – is on its way out to members across the UK and beyond this week. Containing just shy of 6,000 words about RISC OS hardware and software, Issue 4 of Volume 38 continues our mission to produce some diversionary reading material during lockdown. In it, a Club member relates how they went about installing a wide-screen monitor with RISC OS, and we look back at the first ‘virtual’ WROCC meeting, at which we welcomed members from around the UK. There are several software reviews, looking at some of the options for playing Patience on RISC OS, creating drawfiles and playing games. There’s a look back at Teletext and the possibilities for some digital archaeology, and we join many other parts of the community in paying tribute to Jim Nagel and Archive 24:6. See https://www.wrocc.org.uk/newsletter for more details of recent issues, and to download samples of older issues. Able to trace its roots directly back to the first Wakefield Club newsletter in April 1983, these days The WROCC is produced in an A5 booklet layout and copies are delivered free to WROCC members in PDF format. Membership of the Club costs £15 per year with a reduced rate of £7.50 for the first year… and despite our name, there are no geographical restrictions. |
