Wakefield RISC OS Computer Club Meeting on Wednesday 5th August at 7.45pm Pot-Pourri MeetingRuth Gunstone will be talking about using OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) to record/stream input from a RISC OS machine, eg. her Pi-based ‘LegoComp’. She will then give an overview of her Pi-based OpenMediaVault media server which can supply both audio and video content. She will also give us a short tour of her computer audio system. Cliff Hatch will give a short account of his experiences operating DEC PDP-8 minicomputers in the 1970s, and then demonstrate a modern Raspberry Pi based replica that brings the history of these classic machines to life. Finally, Bernard Boase will take us on ‘A Voyage Round My Desktop’. This ‘virtual’ meeting will take place using the Zoom conferencing service. Zoom invitations will be sent out earlier on the day of the meeting, but only to those who email info2020@wrocc.org.uk expressing their intention of taking part. If you would like to be part of the meeting, please RSVP – at the latest by the end of Tuesday 4th August. If you haven’t used Zoom before, we suggest that before Wednesday you try to join the Zoom test meeting at https://zoom.us/test on the device that you intend to use, in order to check that your system works OK. It is just a meeting with yourself, but it allows you to check that your sound and video (if required) are working properly. You might be asked to install the software, but the Zoom website should take you through this. It is not necessary to sign up for a Zoom account: both the test meeting above and the Club meeting on Wednesday can be accessed without one. Annual membership of the Club is available for those living near and far at £15, but new members receive a 50% discount in their first year of membership: ie. £7.50. Members receive:
