Pluto v3.18 is now available, and includes some changes made by Rob Sprowson and myself. The main changes in Pluto v3.18 from v3.16 are:
Please see http://www.avisoft.f9.co.uk for full details of changes, and how to download from SourceForge. It will also be available from !Store next week. There is also a new Pluto Mailing List, replacing the old one on YahooGroups – see Riscository Pluto is an email and news reader that runs on the RISC OS operating system, written by Jonathan Duddington in 1997 as a commercial product, but in April 2013 Jonathan announced that Pluto v3.06 and eSpeak were released with a GPLv3 licence, and freely available to download from SourceForge, including the source. Enjoy! |

I try Popstar for email transport, but it seems it has no SSL. Next I try Antispam v 1.68. The problem is that I can only click on AcornSSL Module?. When I click SecureSockets Module? then came a messeage that the module SecureSockets is missing. Where I can find this modul? Micky |

You need the newer AcornSSL, not the old SecureSockets module. See AntiSpam Help → Index → Module ? → AcornSSL for details. |

I test it with RPCEmu and Risos 5.28. It’s a little bit laborious to make the emails working. Micky |

Pluto does not suport IMAP, or does it? |

Pluto utilises senders and fetchers, hence the normal use of Antispam as the filtered fetch and PopStar for the send. That’s all SMTP/POP3 IMAP could, potentially, be done with the use of Curl |

yup, I have been using it for an experimental email client for RO I have been playing for a while last year. curl --url "imaps://exchange-server-fqdn" -u "user:password -v" Works with imaps too, so should allow connection to office 365/exchange servers too HTH |

I think Popstar has no SSL. When I try to fetch a email a message came: Please activate SSL. Micky |

POPstar has no SSL/TLS support – indeed it has no active developer supporting it AFAIK. |

Martin, I send you a email with the Settings file from AntiSpam. Micky |

IMAP with SSL etc is quite easy to implement if you have proper SSL stack. I did a test with that in MorphOS when the new Email client (Iris (not the browser)) came out. I couldn’t use the new client hence my little test. I managed to get my recent emails in a list that fetched bodies if I clicked in it. This was with Gmail. |

I did not use IMAP. I think Messenger Pro is much easier to configure. Micky |

Curl gives errors: curl: (1) Unsupportet protocol: imap What do i wrong? This is the problem we have on Risc Os: no email programm, which can do IMAP natively. That makes it very dificult vor new users. |

If you type in a task window,
It tells you which protocols are enabled. |

Yes, but Iris has trouble with a lot of internet sites. Micky |

Now I have a working Pluto except that it did not accept incoming emails. What I must do that these emails are accepted? Micky |

@Micky – I replied to your email yesterday with some suggestions and questions – I have not yet had a reply. Did you get it? |
-Micky (10269) 143 posts |
Yes I got it. I answer you tonight, because I have a lot to do. Micky |

First, at a guess, you downloaded the older Curl with a Frontender GUI (www.strcprstskrzkrk.co.uk/curl) and that version does not support IMAP (it says as much on the GUI) Using the exact syntax the implementation of Curl expects is always a problem, since the help file doesn’t (help) However, curl —manual will give an extensive amount of information, then it’s a case of following through to the right syntax. First test, do with IMAP rather than IMAPS – the support is there for both, but I think you probably need to ensure a nice, recent copy of the cert data in your boot Where the mailserver_FQDN might be IMAP.GMAIL.COM So, for that user on that mail server launch with and then repeat with the IMAPS version:
There you go, a connection, into the gmail IMAP server (using IMAPS), which unsurprisingly failed to connect to an account due to either an incorrect username, or password or both :) Edit Fighting textile with the mail address element – remove the spaces from it for what you actually enter EDIT2 Include a no-keepalive: (without the spaces in the username/password) For “production” use you would omit the -v for verbosity
Definite improvement. |

Thank you. I was using curl v7.11 ( with gui). I will try tomorrow with the one from riscos.info |

The Risc OS Info version is the CLI tool only, so you need a little bit of hackery replacing the curl app file. Or just run the new version and open a task window to launch the curl command, once you are in, and it replies with a list of the mail folders then comes the fun part finding the specific IMAP command strings. |
