Doug suggested that he had tried changing the screen resolution for the ARMbook but he did not have a 256 |

The ARMbook only does 16M colours at the moment.
I tried it and get a multi coloured strippy display though the music plays and i can press Q to quit the game :-) I think it is finding the 1366 × 768 screen mode that is in the MDF but will not work on the 1080p version of the ARMBook. Deleting references to 1360/1366/1368 × 768 in the crunch file results in an initial screen with a please wait message and then a lock up that requires a power reset. cCan you supply a version that does not have any 1360/1366 or 1368 256 or 16M options or let me know all the changes to make it only reference 1920 × 1080? Thanks Doug |

As there is no advantage of running the game in any mode apart from The Automatic mode selection was just a way of getting it to work on hardware that does not have 256 colour support?. |

@Doug thanks for your help with this I have uploaded a version :- www.mbelect.co.uk/RISCOS/progs/Stargate2.zip This version I have left uncrunched, the fact that your getting to the screen that converts the graphics does suggest that you do not have 256 colour support? If the program uses 16M colours it has to convert the graphics this takes a few seconds on the Titanium I have added a counter so you can see what sprite number it is converting 1 to 99 If you get it running you can press F to see the screen mode something like 1920 × 1080 32 1 1 should be displayed for 16M colours. |

Sorry didn’t read back and see the bit about the ARM book only doing 16M. |

Hi Terry, Version 2 gets me to a screen on the ARMBook that says 256 mode not supported and converting sprites is then started and completes. It then goes in to the main program and works with F giving the display as 1920 × 1080 but the graphics obsure the rest though I can make out 1 1 at the end. The game runs in just a small square in the centre of the display with most of the screen just blank though it is playable. Hope that helps. Doug |

Hi Doug Thanks for spending the time to look at this. The game is acting exactly as it should when finding a 16M colour mode, it converts the sprites to the new colour mode and then it can plot them with the faster sprite ploting call. The game then centres itself to the new mode, without scaling at the moment. Thanks again, looks like we need to find a way of detecting what modes are available for each machine, perhaps we can talk to the display manager and read the monitor modes that are used by the WIMP? |
