The Application Tutorial and Listings Book This book contains all you need to know about writing multi-tasking (‘Wimp’) applications on RISC OS. There are over 100 demonstration programs in BBC Basic to type in, beginning with an exploration of the desktop, setting up windows, populating them with icons, dealing with mouse clicks, advancing to menus and user graphics (even emulating ZX Spectrum games!), how to implement a save-as dialogue box and application directories. 25 fully-functioning type-in applications are listed, ranging from fun to the serious including a notepad, a plotter, Maestro bar copier, bulk window closer, label designer, Envelope editor and more. The book is 310 pages of easy-open A5 wirebound paper and is written in the practical and accessible, hands-on Drag ’N Drop style. Price is GBP20.00 plus postage and handling of GBP2.50 worldwide. Have it since yesterday. For me it is a good compilation of “needed things”. The first overview (1h yesterday evening) was very positiv. Good usable and the first problem I never understand, using sliders, is solved now ;-) |

No eBook/online download only edition? That’s sad. Sending dead trees via mail is a bit too retro for me. |

I like to use paper stuff more than PDF or eBooks. |

I’ll order my copy today…prefer any recycled-paper-tree over pdf any time, but why not do eBook/PDF also, so you’ll catch’em all :-) |
