Rick Murray, writer of 11536 messages here, creator of the award winning Manga application and…a lot of less important stuff…is proud/excited/ravished to announce the release of his latest creation – Mamie Fletcher’s House, after lots of development, hundreds of cups of tea, several toilet emergencies due to said tea, and the odd late night or two. You explore a house looking for ghosts, and when found you get rid of them by taking photos of them. Twenty two levels to challenge you. Different types of level design. Two types of ghost to deal with. Lots of tea to drink. Don’t get too scared, unless getting scared is necessary. There are challenges! Spiders! Argh! Look, I suck at sales and publicity, so there’s a playable (two level) demo available from https://heyrick.eu/mamie/ or from the Store app, and it’s available on Store now at the exceptionally reasonable price of £4,99 (that’s like, what, a Happy Meal or something?). The blurb setting the scene made me laugh out loud! I had a 5 minute play of the demo and it looks really cool. Was it made with the AMCOG Development Kit? Anyway, I’ll be buying a copy. Nice work, Rick! |

Thanks! :-) No, it’s not the development kit. It is completely original code, and written in C. |

I’ve made a small update with a bug fix and a nice new feature. Version 0.25 introduces the ability to run. Holding down a key whilst moving to the left or right (the default is But, note, she can only run for about six seconds. After that, she’ll need time to recover (standing still or walking normally) until she can run again. The Run ability has been added to the key setup. Also fixed the bug where pressing Esc in the skill level menu quit the game, instead of returning to the main menu (actually, it was, but it wasn’t trapping the key so the main menu saw the Esc and did what that key does ;-) ). It’s on Store. For people who don’t have the game, it’s only £4,99 and there’s a little demo to have a play with beforehand so you can see what it’s like. Note – due to some not-particularly-clear wording on the Store upload site 1, I pretty much screwed up the update and Mamie may or may not have a new software ID. This may mean that you will be asked to pay for it again. Don’t worry – if you have (all five of you ☺) then just leave a note for Andrew in the special instructions to say you’ve already purchased the game. 1 You need to click the “Non-chargeable” button to edit the details of an existing app, including Chargeable ones. Clicking the “Chargeable” button actually creates a completely new app with a new ID. |

Hmm, I’ve just noticed my ever-so-slightly sarcastic announcement begins by mentioning:
Which is about two hundred more than currently shown. |

A prolific poster deleted his account last November. This deleted not only his messages, but also all replies in threads that he started. In total, a little over 4000 messages disappeared. |

Well, that’s a bit strange! Most forums let you disable your account but not mass delete all your posts, and I’ve never seen one that lets you delete anyone else’s posts! |

Mamie Fletcher’s House has been updated to version 0.27. While there are various tweaks and fixes, the big thing in this release is that when a level is exited, a snapshot file is saved. This is loaded when the game is restarted, so that you can pick up where you left off and don’t have to try to complete twenty two levels in one go! Mamie is available to purchase on Store, and there’s a demo version available to give you a feel of the game. The price has been reduced to £2.99 and – hear me out here – I don’t see a penny of that. So, for just £2.99 (less than a Happy Meal), you can have a fun retro-style platform game and make a little contribution to support RISC OS at the same time. It’s on Store. |
