Impulse module documentation

Almost 20 years ago I undertook to convert to 32-bit the Impulse module, which mainly supports mail-merging between databases such as Impact and Powerbase and document editors such as Impression and Ovation Pro. The use of the module has never been very well documented. There were a lot of gaps, and two of the SWIs had one of the registers described as a pointer to the top of a buffer, instead of being the length of the buffer. The whole concept was hugely ambitious but had various design flaws. None of this helped! I started writing better documentation ten years ago when I was developing ImpEmail, and now, with further improvements to ImpEmail underway, I have completed and released the documentation. You can find it on the Sine Nomine Software website where you will also find my rather ropey source code released for the first time. I hope this will make it easier for developers who wish to add advanced mail-merge support to other applications. Apologies if you fancied doing that 20 years ago and have gone off to develop for another OS. |
