For some people, PayPal is a way that takes a lot of guesswork out of things. For example, rest of world (me) is £58. Which is €66,25 today. But not necessarily tomorrow or whenever the transfer goes through. Sending a cheque is frequently useless if not in the currency of the payee. If you think PayPal’s charges are bad, try handing a UK bank a cheque in dollars and see how much they’ll screw the customer for the complete and total shock of dealing with something as utterly alien as American dollars.
Oh, FFS. PayPal and Musk were involved circa Y2K. In 2002, eBay bought it (and made Musk a few extra coins in his pocket). An activist hedge fund bloke was instrumental is spinning PayPal off as it’s own entity, which was done by 2015. Much better to point out their propensity for freezing people’s accounts for reasons that amount to something between incompetence and vindictive malice. Plus, of course, a recent attempt to fine people $2500 for spreading misinformation, something they quickly backpedalled on, using creative interpretations in order to make their licence agreement that said that actually not say that, since they got called on it, hard.
You’ve just described the entire banking industry. |

Nice to see Archive mag out. Also does that mean every subscriber get a PDF version. Must admit it would be nice to have PDF versions to fill in the gaps between paper copies. |

I’ve obviously missed a spam post here, not a genuine question, but just for the record, Archive is happy to receive payment by bank transfer, PayPal, or cheque (as stated in the first post!). Honestly, if you want to pay by carrier pigeon, or some other method, I’m sure we can work it out. |

Yes, Archive now also sends out digital versions of the magazine for all paper subscribers. This is free of charge, and it’s pretty handy for searching, or reading on your tablet. Personally, I prefer reading on real paper, but PDF is definitely handy now and then. I don’t have your email address on file, Colin, if you fire me an email at gavin@archivemag.co.uk, I’ll get you a PDF copy. |

Interesting – comparing reading paper mag – as opposed to reading it on mobile phone :-) |

Is it possible to put something like Archive PDF through a translator? Or translate the German Mag to English. |

Apologies, Sascha. We had a bereavement in the family very recently, and I haven’t been at my desk since. I’m starting to catch up now, and I have a number of subscriptions to process (not a bad problem to have!). I should be caught up in less than 48 hours. Thanks for your patience. |

I’m sorry about that. |
