Meeting on Wednesday 6th September at 7.45pm

Mark Moxon on Elite

The bulk of Mark’s talk will be about Elite on the BBC Micro, which he’s been analysing in great depth over the last few years.

He’ll go through the main features of the game and explain exactly how they were implemented, from the original BBC Micro and Electron versions to the enhanced versions for the 6502 Second Processor and BBC Master. He’ll also talk about Angus Duggan’s Elite-A, as well as the Apple II and Commodore 64 versions that the authors converted.

Finally, he’ll look at the NES version, which contains a surprising amount of original BBC Micro code. If time permits he may also touch on Revs and Aviator, which he’s also analysed.

This ‘virtual’ meeting is open to all, and will take place using the Zoom conferencing service using our regular meeting credentials. Zoom invitations will be sent out ahead of the meeting, but only to those who email info2023@wrocc.org.uk to request one. If you would like to be part of the meeting (and don’t already have the link from a previous meeting or receive an invite in the next 24 hours as a member of WROCC), please RSVP — at the latest by the end of Tuesday 5th September.

If you haven’t used Zoom before, we suggest that before Wednesday you try to join the Zoom test meeting at https://zoom.us/test on the device that you intend to use, in order to check that your system works OK. You will not require a Zoom account to take part.
