StrongED 4.69f14 released

The fourteenth full release of StrongED 4.69 can found on the StrongED website

The download contains a copy of StrongED that has all modes installed to make sure that they are compatible with 4.69f14.

The main reason for this release is an error in the graphics printing mode that result in an error when trying to print with the PS3 printer driver.

A couple of add-ons have been improved, and some changes from SE 4.70 have been backported to this version.

Changes in StrongED 4.69f14 (from 4.69f13)

• Fix printing of headers & footers in graphics printing mode. The string to print was one char too big, i.e. a trailing Tab could be included. The PS2 printer driver was okay with that but the PS3 printer driver objected, cancelling the print-out. (With thanks to David Pitt for his help)

• Fixes to text mode printing o did not set ‘print selection’, and could print either. o did not initialise copy count so would try to printed 2^32 copies o did not take header line added by printer driver into account

• Make sure ‘Count selection’ option in FileInfo dbox is only unshaded when there is an actual selection otherwise there can be an abort when clicking on the Count button.

• Changing filetype in savebox for a LoF/LoW/Throwback window would abort. Treat them as a special case and not a regular text save.

• Pressing Return in savebox for a LoF/LoW/Throwback window with full path would also abort. Again, as above, treat as a special case.

• Prevent multiple entries in search history by making sure search string are always terminated with a null character when they are added to the history.

• The keyboard shortcut for the toggle case option in LoF and Replace dboxes moved to Ctrl-I, as Ctrl-C is now used for clipboard support in the Wimp.

• DigDirSED, the add-on that provides directory search, had some of its keyboard shortcuts changed. Ctrl-H wasn’t a good choice and Ctrl-C is now used by the Wimp. Help is now on F1 and toggle case-sensitivity on Ctrl-I.

• The Dialogue module that can be used to send messages to StrongED has been updated to work in a TaskWindow. (Courtesy of Frank de Bruijn)

• BasicRun module updated to v2.06, adds support for BASIC64. The RunBasic function has been extended with an extra parameter that specifies which BASIC command to use; BASIC or BASIC64.

Updated modes

C, C++

• The C++ mode is new (courtesy of Paolo Fabio Zaino) and now handles C++ files. The C mode has been changed to no longer accept C++ files. Both modes have a new add-on to load header files that was created by combining the previous 4 file solution provided by Andrew Hodgkinson. C mode has been updated with the additions in C99 and C11.

BASIC

• Provides more diverse, richer syntax colouring. New add-on to enable StrongHelp lookup on SYS statements that use a SWI number rather than a SWI name. Improved ReIndent functionality, no longer indents on REPEAT/WHILE when the closing statement is on the same line.

Makro

• Has a new add-on that allows easy insertion of the function, etc keys that have been added to Makro v2.01. Added syntax colouring for comments to make the header that was added in v2.01 stand out.

Obey

• Gained some add-ons to allow Alt-(Shift) doubleclicking on a system variable to show its value or open the object it points at. Files can now be run from StrongED directly without needing to save first.

I downloaded !StrongEd, but, unless I’m mistaken, I didn’t find the updated modes?
Maybe they can be downloaded separately?

The updated modes are included with StrongED and can be found in !StrongED.Defaults.Modes.

Note that if you a (modified) copy of a ModeFile in !StrED_cfg.UserPrefs.Modes then you won’t see any changes. You’ll either need to remove the copy in StrED_cfg or merge the changes in the updated ModeFile with your copy in StrED_cfg.

Edited to clarify that it’s the ModeFile that matters not the mode directory.

The sources to 4.69f14 are now available as well. I’ve also uploaded the German resources.

The German resources should work but all new bits are in English, and the StrongHelp manual is completely in English as the German one was very out of date.

If anyone finds a problem with the German resources then please let me know. If you’re willing to do some translations then I’d like to hear from you too.
