Gigabit USB ethernet adapters

We are pleased to offer RISC OS users a range of gigabit ethernet adapters that connect via USB. These are compatible with latest/current builds of both the classic RISC OS network stack, and the new RISC OS Developments one. The advantage of USB-connected ethernet adapters is that they can be used with almost any RISC OS 5 computer, from Iyonix onwards. This means you can add gigabit ethernet to almost any RISC OS 5 system. Of particular note would be Pinebooks or early Pi models, Beagle or Pandaboard. The interfaces can also solve networking problems or faulty interfaces on other boards such as Titanium, iMX6 or newer Pis. Customers will also have access to our “AutoUSBnet” software which allows desktop “plug and play” networking. You can literally hot-plug a USB ethernet adapter into your RISC OS 5 computers, and it’ll sort out the networking, bring up ShareFS and sync the time to the internet (if possible), all without you needing to lift a finger. Please note that due to RISC OS only running at USB2 speeds, actual performance will be limited by USB throughput, but should still deliver roughly 3x the performance of 100 Mbit devices, which will make a noticeable difference when backing up to your NAS, or downloading via high speed broadband. Pricing is being kept low to keep these affordable – roughly the same price as the older 100 Mbit interfaces. Call us on 01925 755043, email or see us at the show to grab yours. Best wishes, Andrew |
