Kappa website of Steve Drain

Many will remember Steve Drain, who died on December 31st 2022. It was Steve’s wish that his software remain available, but the Kappa domain for his website at http://www.kappa.me.uk/ will expire in June 2024, so the website will vanish and the email address not work. With the agreement of Steve’s widow there is now a complete copy of the old Kappa website maintained as part of my Avisoft site Please bookmark one of these links, and follow the Kappa link for Steve’s software. If there are any questions, comments, suggested updates or any other feedback on the new website or the software, please contact me directly at the address on the avisoft kappa webpage, and I will try to help. |

Yes, very missed. He knew BASIC’s insides like nobody else. Have you been able to get hold of any of the source code of his software? |

I thought most of the downloads included source? Is there anything specific missing? If anyone has any suggestions for source changes, please let me know and I will update the website if generally applicable. I have some pending changes to Crunchie myself! |

Yup, my bad. I have some things from when Steve was around (like RFSFiles) which don’t have source in the archive. Just pulled it from the site and, source is there. Cheers, and forget I said anything. ;) |

Hi Martin, I asked on the forum for help to modify a Draw file with a matrix transformation. Steve Drain had provided a program in Basic which does the job perfectly,it was in September 2022. https://www.riscosopen.org/forum/forums/1/topics/19339The download link still works, but I don’t know if this program is saved? |

Martin, you may want to check the download links are all OK and the files linked are present. Basilica & BasicApp appear to be broken |

But that link is to this current thread!
They certainly are … just as they are in the original kappa website! |

I have added links to Text Area Markup Language (TAML), Transform & Parser to the avisoft kappa downloads page in the Other section, with their files. Existing links from forum web pages will stop working at some point. |

If we’re looking for lost software by Steve, I’m not sure what happened to the item mentioned here: https://www.riscosopen.org/forum/forums/1/topics/15562 I don’t think it’s the same as the Basilik mentioned here, or at least not the same version? |

I have added Basilisk v0.11 which was mentioned in that forum page to the Modules section. |
