|

Erich – when using Direct 5.31 on the Pi Zero 2W did you happen to try IRIS and does it work acceptably on the PiZero2 W with only 512Mb? |
|
I’m writing this on Iris, running on RPi-zero2W. |

IIRC the Jan 24 build was released in April 2024 on the ROD secure download folder for purchasers via PlingStore, so would expect there to be a similar lead time from any other build if we said Jan 25, we’d be looking at Apr 25 for consumption. |

Awesome – thanks Erich – more testing coming up. |

Just installed latest RISC OS direct on the Raspi Pi 4B 8GB. I was amazed how fast it booted up. Almost as fast as blinking your eyes. But other than that, wifi appears to be working good. A good bunch of apps to try. I really liked the IRIS web-browser, do keep this browser updated. Just the audio output is the issue I have. The HDMI cable I have has a split cable that allows a USB cable to be plugged into one of the 4x USB ports at the back of the Raspi Pi 4B. Question to all: Is there a preferred USB port it needs to be plugged into get audio output? Feedback: I believe this is the sort of thing that encourage new people to try out RISC OS and the fact its got programming tools already installed helps alot, in addition having user manuals too, the more user manuals, the better. I remember on one of the RISC OS either from version 4 or 6, I cant recall. It came with a virtual bookshelf of various RISC OS manuals and guides. I think RISC OS direct haved install a bookshelf filled with all the resources on RISC OS, it will help developers to potentially make new apps for RISC OS in my opinion. I look forward to more future updates of the RiSC OS direct distro, keep it up, I like it, thumbs up. |
