Would it be too much to ask for a zipped version of the ROOL RPCEmu stick I recall this was suggested somewhere before and considered. The problem as with all the “oh could you just do this too” is it all takes someone’s (unpaid) time to set up. I’m no web guru but I imagine the above requires some kind of post purchase step after the Paypal shopping cart has completed which then goes and generates a temporary URL (a static link wont do, because then only 1 person ever needs to buy the item & share the link) then deletes it after, say, 24 hours. I’d guess that might take half a day to set up? But in 4 hours you could post about 120 physical USB sticks, which is quite a lot.
Use of a Risc PC/Acorn logo for that page rather than the dreary green blandy-mc-bland cog? |

Any more ideas?Use of a Risc PC/Acorn logo I agree that a RiscPC logo would be good (especially considering its 20th anniversary) but am not so sure about the Acorn logo in preference to the RISC OS cogwheel. |

Alternative interpretation (assuming a 35-55ish bloke): “I just bought this nifty little thing for the price of a few pints. It is pretty good as a media server hooking to my TV with little trouble. Problem is, I want to write code on it, like I did back when I was a teenager and made that little automatic thing for my model railway using a bunch of relays hanging off the back of a Vic20. Now, don’t get me wrong, Scratch is fun to play with, but it really doesn’t hit the spot. And god help anybody figuring out where the hell stuff goes inside a Linux system. It seems to me that all of the systems available for this Pi, they’re all Linux aren’t they? Or if not exactly Linux, then something that sort of thinks it is Linux. But wait, here’s one called RISC OS. It might be another Linux like Android or Plan 9. Yeah. It is feasible for somebody to buy a Pi and then discover RISC OS, without ever laying sight on an emulator. |
