Flac Health Check

I have just released the first version of a new application called
!Flac_HealthCheck. It can now be downloaded via a link from my software
page at

This examines flac format audio files and carries out a similar statistical
analysis to that performed on CD tracks by !CD_HealthCheck.

!Flac_HealthCheck should work on both 16-bit and 24-bit stereo flac files
with standard sample rates from 44100 to 192000 samples/sec.

Note that this new application makes use of the RISC OS port of the ‘flac’
utility program. So if you don’t already have that you would need to obtain
a copy via the link given to it on my software page. Then please read the
!Help file inside !Flac_HealthCheck for detailed info on how to proceed.

I have just released version 0.55 of !Flac_HealthCheck. It can now be

Version 0.55 overcomes a limitation of the previous version which meant it
might ignore the last few seconds of some flac files. This new version
should give more accurate results that take the entire flac file’s audio
content into account.

I’ve now released version 0.61. This has a few minor improvements but the main change is that it can now – like CD_HealthCheck – generate ‘interval spectra’ which make observing and diagnosing various flaws in the sampling much easier.
