We’re back! This week, we have finished some important tasks. A new web server, much faster than before. A new FTP server, a better place for our files. A big update of our website, with smaller pages, less subdivisions, etc. But that’s not all: we also putted new emulators on line, with RISC OS 5.22. And a new offer, BootToBasic, that boots directly into Basic, with a small footprint: a simple zip of 2.4 MB. Last announce, a microsite for french users dedicated to Psion EPOC World. Not a lot of content yet here, but a light and cool ‘old school’ design (see http://www.riscos.fr/psion.html). See you soon for other news on www.riscos.fr. Let’s switch to french… And for those of the SIBO persuasion (series 3), there is some old info at: http://www.heyrick.co.uk/software/pb2/ …along with a “teardown”, because the insides of things are always interesting. ;-)

BTW, most people refer to the 16 bit system (series 3) as “SIBO” (SIxteen Bit Operating system or SIxteen Bit Organiser), reserving the name “EPOC” for the series 5 machines. It makes things easier than 16/32 suffixes. Best explanation here: http://www.scss.com.au/family/andrew/pdas/psion/sibo/ Update: Those interested in the old Psion machines will find this interesting. For my part, I used my organiser right up until I got an Android phone, as absolutely nothing came anywhere near; and it hasn’t been until the fairly recent release of Google Docs that a basic text editor with styles became available “as standard” with such devices. I use Docs on my iPad as well as – for all of Apple’s greatness – out of the box it doesn’t have anything more powerful than a Jotter app. [recent Apple purchasers can download “Pages”, but I was a couple of weeks too early for that offer] |

Seems to be more SIxteen Bit Organiser, dixit Wikipedia.
That’s one explanation. The other one is that they decided to use EPOC16 for old OS (EPOC32 for the new one and EPOC for both). Not very important anyway :) |
