This is to let people know that I have just released an updated version of the “ROSS Document”. (ROSS = Risc OS Sound System). This version includes coverage of the new HDMI audio capabilties and the associated ability to select the audio controller/hardware. The ROSS Document contains code examples, etc. You can get a copy from: http://jcgl.orpheusweb.co.uk/temp/ROSSDocument.pdf Hope people find it useful. Jim Lesurf |

Jim: Thanks for the link! I guess I should spend more time with the official docs, as I can see that this may help with getting a couple audio-dependent ham apps going. I had been relying on a book with only a few pages devoted to the audio section. This is great stuff! |

You’re welcome. :-) Apologies for my clumsy programming style (sic)! BTW if you need USB Audio to capture radio from an SRD you need to see if the USB Audio modules produced by Colin and Dave work on your hardware. They do on some machines, but not others. Seems to depend on the quirks of the USB controller hardware used in the machines. On my ARMX6 48k/24 works fine, but 96k/24 doesn’t. And it depends what USB socket I use. Jim |

Jim, I appreciate if there was documentation of ROSS with code examples for the use of commands such as Sound_InstallVoice and hereby all commands related to it. See my Adding New Voices In RISC OS post for an explanation of what I am looking for. |

Angel, I’m afraid I don’t really know much about the Voices/8-bit system and haven’t had any experience with them since decades ago when typing in programs from magazine ‘Yellow Pages’. I don’t have much interest in that area. So it is probably better documented by someone who has the experience and interest. My focus has been on the 16bit system and some of the newer developments not covered in the old PRMs. If no-one else covers 8-bit/Voices I might do it sometime in future. But it’s no really on my current ‘to do’ list I’m afraid. Jim |
