Is there a list of this years exhibitors/talks yet? |

For the SW show, talks are normally sorted “on the day”, and usually given by ourselves (R-Comp), ROOL and CJE plus anyone else who’d like to give a presentation. I believe all the companies/people mentioned in the article above are confirmed, and there are several more who have expressed an interest in coming. I’d like to particularly mention Martin Wurthner (MW Software – EasiWriter/Artworks/PS3/Gutenprint), as he’s not been able to get to some of the other shows, so we’re particularly pleased to welcome him back. That said, we’re (Orpheus and R-Comp) grateful to all exhibitors (and visitors) for their support, as it gets more expensive each year to run. |

Just had confirmation from Steve Fryatt as well as an exhibitor. Also AmCog Games, I believe. Sadly no Mathmagical/RISCOScode this year though due to diary clash. |

Will there be a mini bus shuttle as for wakefield to get to it on public transport? |

Will there be a shuttle boat? 11 miles straight line, 70 by road & they cancelled the barrage. ☺ |

I usually get the train to Weston-super-Mare and get a taxi from there, but hopefully getting a lift this year. Maybe this thread could be used for people to coordinate their arrival times and share a taxi to keep the cost down. |

Just spoke with Richard of Impression-X fame. He’s hoping to be at the show, but couldn’t commit to a stand, so Impression-X will be available on CD from the R-Comp stand. This will be the recent 5.77 edition. |

Is there a list of talks yet (makes it easier to plan when to arrive)? |

Provisionally R-Comp/RCI, CJE, ROOL. Not sure on order though. We normally start the talks about circa 1pm onwards. To be honest, given the show opening hours aren’t super-long, there’s probably something to do all day. Even if it is just eating Mrs Norris’ “tasty treats”! ;) |

Slightly quieter than last year, both in terms of number of exhibitors and visitors, but as last year was a bit of a bumper year that’s not surprising. Despite that with the release of Titanium and continued improvements to the ARMX6, there was still a good buzz around the show, and it always has such an informal and friendly feel. Both CJE and RComp had Titanium based offerings (potential price war looming!) in some rather nice looking cases. Looks like given the price of the board they’ve decided there is no point scrimping on the other components and are going for top of the range on everything. Martin Wuerthner was there with a beta version of ArtWorks that should fix the display problems on Titanium. Available real soon now. This alone is probably stopping people buying Titanium at the moment. For those who prefer solid tried and tested but still very fast, the ARMX6 was showing off its excellent display abilities on the gorgeous 3440×1440 super widescreen monitor and its sound abilities via hdmi to a chunky sound bar. Over on the ROOL stand Rob Sprowson was fighting back with a demo of Titanium using a dual screen setup. There was some discussion about how the iconbar should be displayed as it’s a long way across in this configuration! Jim Nagel was there (on time!) but only with a sampler of the next issue of Archive detailing the new hardware releases. Chris Dewhurst was on hand with an actual new issue of Drag n Drop, plus all back issues available on a memory stick. Anthony Bartram of Ambiguous Contrasts Games, on his first visit to the SW Show, was showing off the new Treasure Quest for Legends of Magic, Vince Hudd had the new-improved-fits-any-positive-numbered-version-of-Raspberry-Pi case, the RiscPiC. He was also representing the Bristol user group, whose next meeting is on the Wednesday 9th March. They meet in a rather nice pub, with real ale and excellent home made food, so if you’re in the area do go along and join them. Steve Fryatt (CashBook, Locate), David Snell (WebWonder, ProCAD), and Organiser (err, Organiser) all had updated versions available. Show co-organiser Richard Brown was on hand to offer RISC OS friendly ISP services in the form of Orpheus Internet. Plus there was some dodgy looking geezer from ROUGOL plugging their next meeting about RiscPCB on Monday 21st March and the next London Show on Saturday 29th October http://rougol.jellybaby.net/index.html Bryan :-) (With apologies to anyone I’ve forgotten. This was intended to be a brief post mentioning the Titanium news but just kept on going!) |

did anyone do any videos of the show talks?? |

Not that I’m aware of. I did try at first – but found it wasn’t practical, so gave up. A big problem is that the SW show doesn’t have an area set aside for talks; it’s all done at the stands. Therefore the camera has to be plonked somewhere in the middle of the floor to get the best result – then it’s at risk of being jostled and knocked over or out of position. Plus, I doubt the battery would last through all the talks, so I’d need to run power to it – that limits where it can go to some extent. (Running power to it using an extension lead also presents a safety issue if it’s in the middle of the floor.) I experimented with setting it up directly in front of my own stand (if nothing else, it might have allowed me to listen to the talks myself later), but it wasn’t picking up the audio so as I said: I gave up. Also, note to self: I need a much taller tripod. |

I’ve put some photos of the event up on my website. They’re captioned from memory, so apologies to anyone that I’ve misrepresented. Apologies too to Orpheus, ROUGOL, Drag ‘n’ Drop, MW Software, Steve Drain, Fortran Friends, and anyone else that I’ve forgotten, for not getting any photos of their presence. |

If they do I could flog them a box with a couple of dozen unused (still in boxes) units. |

No thanks Steve, we have " a couple of dozen unused (still in boxes) units."! |

Fortunately I think I managed to keep out of shot of all the photos… I’m a bit camera-shy at times! (I still have a USR 28k8 modem in use here for the odd time I need to send a fax.) |
