Raspberry Pi 3

Draw and BASIC appear to work perfectly well, and NetSurf for some sites. But I’d like to have a go sometime with ZeroPain to see if it cures NetSurf’s pernicketiness, and FontEd’s. I’ve not yet found a description of what to do with ZeroPain though. It’s there okay on some zip file or other that I downloaded, but I haven’t a clue what to do with it. |

ZeroPain is included in the Beta Pi ROM download. The ReadMe in the ZeroPain directory has the installation instructions. |

Don’t beat yourself up. There’s always someone out there who knows a lot more than I do – thank God. |

Regarding updating the Pi RC for Pi 3/ARMv8 compatibility (and ARMv8 compatibility in general), it looks like in the near future the Pi 2 is going to be replaced with a “Pi 2+”, which will basically be the same as a Pi 2 but with an (undeclocked) BCM2837, i.e. the same chip as the Pi 3 uses. This is due to running out of cheap access to the BCM2836 (because most people are buying the Pi 3 instead of the Pi 2). So new users who were hoping to avoid compatibility issues by buying the Pi 2 will soon be out of luck. https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=160578 |

A timely warning. Does this mean that ROOL will be pursuing an update to the RC14 SD card image (that would involve updating Netsurf, Omni, Packman, Ghostscript, PHP, PDF [and possibly Fat32fs]) suitable for the model 3 with more urgency now?
Hope this is helpful. |

Well, gee, there’s an announcement to push prices up. Had a look on Amazon and the Pi2 is now ~€58 (nearly twice the price of the Pi3!). I wanted one as it has more than a original Pi, but didn’t want to jump straight to a Pi3 for the obvious reasons. Kind of sucks that they will be making a 2B+ using a nobbled Pi3 chip instead of just saying “gonna be retiring this model”. Still, order placed a little sooner than I had planned, but better sometime than never! |

and the elapsed time to a hack that ups the clock on a pi2+ is likely to be what exactly? |

Hey Rick! You live in France :) Still the same price. |

That baston of customer service , Currys, is also doing a Pi2 starter kit clearance at £34.99 and that includes extras like a case, PSU, HDMI lead, Ethernet Lead and MicroSD if you need a complete kit but only for collections. So UK only for that price and depends how far from a store, including Carphone Warehouse ones, you are. Amazon and Maplins are still charging full prices at the moment. |

There’s a RPi 3 compatible version of !Webjames and !PHP available here. The zip file contains a replacement !RunImage and PHP executable. The PHP version is now 5.3.29. (Upgraded from 5.2.17). Both phpbb3 3.0.14 and the latest version of tcpdf seem to work reliably with this version. |
