Whatever happened to the linux build? I remember some years ago it was at least started on |

It has very little explanation – does this new ‘DeLuxe’ version replace Virtual Risc PC Adjust? That doesn’t seem to be listed any more. |

Deluxe? I’d assumed it was just a modified version you could DownLoad and run. |

Note it also runs 4/6 and not 5 |

Is that a bug or deliberate coding? |

That is very interesting, Aaron had said that there was a lot of work to do to get RISC OS Six running (probably why RISC OS Five isn’t there!), glad he’s managed Six in the end. |

I’ve been running 6 people on the emulator (Mac) since 2009. Just ran upgrade from 4 |

Or simply the sensible choice for an emulator? |

How is not running an OS version that works on a real machine a sensible choice? |
Chris Evans (457) 1614 posts |
Which emulator? |

Why wouldn’t it work? If VRPC emulates a real Risc PC and RISC OS 6 works on a real Risc PC… The real question should perhaps be: why run RISC OS 6? |

In what way is that even relevant to most users (ie. non-developers)?
That is the reason many VMs are created! Running old OS’s that are not supported on new hardware to maintain software compatibility.
Because it’s 26bit so more software will work on it. |

How is not running an OS version that works on a real machine a sensible choice? As a choice most users of systems1 try to run the same version 1 That’s true pretty much irrespective of the hardware platform |

I follow your logic AIUI RO6 changed quite a few kernel bits so may be something there checked the hardware deep enough. I’m just reporting what I recall Aaron told me. I did try looking at what riscos.com used to offer but it has been excluded from https://web.archive.org/web/*/riscos.com :-/ |

I suspect it doesn’t run RO5 due to the emulator detection Has anyone tried bypassing the POST? |
Colin Ferris (399) 1809 posts |
Should behave the same as Red-S – for a test just try the RO5 softload – play with progs in Apps. |
