If you want an excuse to say “Wow!”, try this |

The press release and ARM blog refer to “mobile computing” in addition to mobile handsets. But techradar has coverage classified under mobile phones, with The Register making no reference to mobile computing, either (although some of the comments do – note that a couple of RO people have already spotted this article). I think there could be a lot of vapourware emerging! |

... and for even more wow, try this |

This article about the NuSmart 2816 even namechecks the RiscPC :-) http://www.thinq.co.uk/2010/9/14/nufront-prepares-desktop-oriented-arm-soc/ |

I’ve just linked to this in LinkedIn’s “ARM Based Group” discussions, along with a link back to Thinking ahead: Supporting multicore CPUs |

Another nice one: A three-core ARM SoC, expected to ship in 2011: |

Apparently, use of the name “Armada” is a trademark violation according to a post made by Alban Rampon |

OMAP5 in "second half of this year"! [Edit: Also includes DirectX 9 compatibility via the SGX544. Perhaps these contacts should be approached in advance. And there should (at some point) be a development board.] |

TI are talking about a hypervisor for OMAP5, along the lines of the Beagleboard Super-Jumbo, I suppose. |

It is really nice to see that Cortex-A15 potentially brings a lot more performance to RISC OS without the absolute need to start using that 2nd/3rd/4th core. Faster memory, more bang per MHz, faster FP, faster everything. Looks like in ARM world the “programmer’s free lunch” still continues and we don’t need to go multi-core yet ;-) |

And now the A15 is to be paired with the new A7. [Edit: Meet ARM’s Cortex A15: The Future of the iPad, and Possibly the Macbook Air.] |

We’re being really spoilt for viable ARM platforms! I look forward to seeing my ARMini well and truly thrashed in the performance stakes by future RISC OS hardware :D |
