I’ll be demonstrating the Beagleboard XM at the MUG (Midlands User Group) meeting tomorrow. |

Is anyone with a Beagleboard-xM going to be at the London Show, and would be able to bring it along to demonstrate? It looks like Jeffrey’s might not arrive in time :-( |

I’ve got mine but haven’t had enough time to play with it yet :-( However, I’ll be at the show if you’d like to borrow it… and I can arrive unfashionably early so no probs getting set up. Please email me to discuss arrangements (if this would help). |

We don’t have one at ROOL so we’re not bringing one. |

Trevor is bringing his along. It will be up and running on the ROUGOL stand. |

I actually have a second xM too, so ROOL you’re welcome to borrow this if you like. And if Jeffrey (or someone else who can make good use of it) wants to buy it from me (at cost price) and cancel their own order, then I’d consider that. (With the benefit of hindsight, perhaps we should all have organised a bulk order, with separate delivery addresses (if Digikey were willing to accommodate this) or for distribution at the show!) Alternatively, a better idea may be to use it as a fund raiser at the show: perhaps someone (ROUGOL? ROOL?) would like to organise a raffle for it. Any idea whether predicted numbers would make this viable to cover the purchase price? £5 a ticket? Thoughts? Edit: Just realised the ambiguity in that. The funds to be donated would be those remaining once I’d reclaimed the price I paid, of course. I can’t afford to donate the board for free! Although I’d personally take the risk on ticket sales if numbers are the same as the 2009 show, providing the raffle was obvious to people and announcements made, etc. |

I would buy it off you, as once the show is over I might have time to play with it! But the raffle is an interesting idea, although the issue of you getting your money back is not so much how many people attend the show but how many will be interested in entering. Will drop you an email to discuss. |

Regarding the raffle, if this were to go ahead it would only be fair to warn all the exhibitors in advance: a £5 ticket could potentially take sales from them. Also a one-prize raffle wouldn’t be great so I’d suggest also a £20 voucher to be spent at the show. Perhaps ROOL would donate a couple of goodies too. And advance warning to exhibitors may encourage them to sell prizes to us at discount prices. Obviously administering a raffle could be a pain in the arse but this could be minimised by just taking basic info (e.g. name, house no., postcode, phone no.) and potentially just selling tickets ‘every hour on the hour’ for, say 10 mins. I expect it’s too late to include details in the programme but if this idea is taken forward I could print out some slips to accompany the programme and encourage people to enter. Anyway, I’ll look forward to your email or please feel free to give me a ring tonight after 8-ish if that’s more convenient. The number’s in a previous email. Edit: I now see that time clashes with your show committee meeting tonight. I should actually be availble from 19.30 to 22.00 so use email please if later than that. (Or phone my mobile during the day and I’ll try to take the call.) |

I might call you up during the meeting and put you on speakerphone :-D It might be a bit too late to organise this now, but I’ll see what the rest of the committee thinks tonight. |

Understood.
OK - looks like it may be yours if you’re still interested. Will bring receipt etc. just in case. |
