RISC OS SouthWest Show Feb 25th 2017

It is now a little over a month until the SouthWest RISC OS Show 2017. This year the show takes place on Saturday 25th Feb, at its usual venue – The Webbington Hotel and Spa in Loxton, south of Bristol. If anyone would like to exhibit and hasn’t yet got in touch, we do can still adjust the floorplan to accommodate one or two more tables. You don’t have to be a commercial company to exhibit at the show – we welcome enthusiasts/hobbyists too, if you’d like to show your projects or arrange a meetup. Please contact show organisers R-Comp (usual R-Comp email address) or Orpheus Internet (usual Orpheus email address) if you’re interested. One thing that’s a little different about the SW show compared to some others is the sense of “community” that goes with it. Many exhibitors (and show visitors) choose to stay the night before the show, and we organise a “dinner, bed and breakfast” overnight rate with the hotel with that in mind. Please get in touch if you’d be interested in this deal, either as exhibitor or visitor. Full info about the show can be found at http://www.riscos-swshow.co.uk/ We look forward to seeing you there! :) |

It is now just under two week until the show on the 25th, so I wanted to bump this thread up to remind people. We’ve had several new exhibitors added to the roster since the last post Amcog games with their new MopTops release ident Computer with their Pi-based kit computers RiscOSBits with, well, RISC OS-oriented hardware bits and pieces. Discussions are still ongoing with a couple more exhibitors too. With all these new faces, it should be a really good SW Show, with plenty new things to see, as well as old faces to reacquaint with. For example, long-time SW “exclusive” exhibitor David Snell has announced at least one new product, and a possible update too. If you have any questions, please drop us a line at the usual R-Comp address. |

Also Amcog games will be demonstrating our new RISC OS sound module that brings:
Ready for use via the BASIC SOUND and ENVELOPE commands. This has been integrated into the new Mop Tops release to provide sound effects. Tony Bartram |

Just a small bump as we’re now just a few days away. We can now confirm another exhibitor – there will be an 8 Bit “retro” meet up, with those involved demonstrating their projects and activities to the rest of us. |

The new CashBook 1.37 will be available at the event: it’s mainly bug fixes, but several of the issues and ideas raised in this thread have also been sorted out. PS2Paper will also be getting its show debut outside of London. Both titles are free, but visitors will be able to purchase them on CD along with all of my other software for £5 – all proceeds will be going to the British Heart Foundation again. I’ll also have copies of the Sixth Edition WROCC Back Catalogue for sale, for £10 – all the money from those goes to the Wakefield RISC OS Computer Club. |

R-Comp / RCI will be showing a range of new developments including multi-disk RAID on RISC OS, partitioned discs on ARMX6 to make better use of large drives, and the recently released “TurboLAN” upgrade (free) for ARMX6 which gives between 1.5x and 10x speed increase for ARMX6 networking. See comp.sys.acorn.announce postings and other RISC OS news sources. We’ll have a second variant of the rather popular RISCBook Go! range, and the latest iteration of our TiMachine Titanium systems. On the R-Comp front, don’t forget to check out the lastest software updates for our range of software including Fireworkz Pro, NetFetch etc. And perhaps a few surprises ;) |

Have fun folks. Bit busy1 myself. 1 I will be ‘enjoying’ the process of changing the network switches in the labs (the setup covers the county plus Burton and…) hopefully without disrupting things for more than a few seconds for each user device. Cardiology went fine tonight. |
