Aemulor 2.40

It is certainly intriguing. Unless it is custom-written software, the only “public” programs that I’m aware of that were SA-only were the Firefox port (but was 32bit already, so doesn’t need aemulor), a couple of MP3 convertor (now 32bit), Quake (but that also had non-SA versions), BHP from TBA software, and possible a 4th Dimension racing game. It is possible there was something video-related too, but I’m struggling to recall. Beyond those, everything else should run, but perhaps the problem is that there is a performance hit? I notice that complex games can be a touch slow (eg. Heroes of Might and Magic 2) but still very playable, on ARMX6. Maybe scaled down to an Iyonix this ceases to be the case. I did note that Schema 2 (before it was fixed) under Aemulor could be a bit sluggish with massive sheets. Either way, performance should be fixable by simply using a Pi rather than Iyo, which is almost certainly cheaper than buying Windows software and converting over. |

No intrigue. I probably didn’t phrase that correctly. Ultimately, it is simply a performance issue, i.e. my wanting to obtain the best level of performance from the software whilst using it on my Iyonix. Yes, of course I could use it on a ‘modern’ ARM device, I have enough of them. Multiple pi, wandboards, edm1-fairy to name some, all capable of running RISC OS. I just hate oversized paper weights and so wanted to utilise it more fully. |
