Geminus on RPCEmu - initial impressions

I recently acquired Sendiri’s beta version of Geminus for RPC/RPCEmu [https://sendiri.co.uk/store/]. The results in terms of speed are very promising: !Thump displays a full-height 5MB full-colour JPEG in a little less than half the time (c.2 secs) it needed when running natively (c.4.5 secs), and the desktop generally seems much more responsive. The downside: only one screen resolution seems to be available in 16M: 1280 × 720 pixels. So anyone running a larger desktop, i.e. 1920 × 1080 × 16M full-screen, will not be able to do so while Geminus is running, AFAICS. Hopefully Sendiri will address this issue. But the improvement in rendering performance is dramatic. |
