Hi all, I want to write ARM machine code for my Rasperry Pi on my Mac. As you can tell, I’m very very new to this! Any help is warmly welcomed! Jim |

There’s a walk-through (for Windows, but much of it should apply to your Mac as well) here: http://www.heyrick.co.uk/armwiki/Tutorial00 But note that the ROOL links are outdated (must fix that!). The IOMD ROM image – https://www.riscosopen.org/zipfiles/misc/IOMDHALDev.5.21.zip?1373347877 The self-extracting harddisc files – https://www.riscosopen.org/zipfiles/misc/HardDisc4.util?1370193200 You need to make the self-extracting file available to RISC OS (place it inside the hostfs folder) because it will be unpacked within the emulated RISC OS machine. [any Mac people to provide specifics? i.e. where exactly is the hostfs folder on a Mac?] |

The Mac version is laid out slightly differently from the Windows one. To add the RISC OS ROMs and Disc Image, open your user Library folder and head to Application Support/RPCEmu. The ROM file goes in the folder ‘roms’, and the Disk Image in ‘hostfs’. I use the Mac RPCEmu all the time and it’s very good. There are a few issues: AFAIK, there isn’t a port of the latest version, and we’re missing the full-screen option that the Window/Linux ports enjoy. I’ve never managed to get Networking working either, though I think this can be a problem affecting RPCEmu on any platform. However, it is obviously very easy to copy files between the host machine and the emulator, once you know where the HostFS folder is. |

Sounds intriguing! It’d be good if you’re able keep us all posted as to how you get on. Do you plan to share the results at a Raspberry Jam? |
