RO 5.21 and JetDirect

My printer a HP Laserjet is connected to the home LAN and thus available to all the computers and emulators in the house, the RO ones via JetDirect. (1.01) I have a RPCEmu 0.8.11 install running ROOL RO 5.21 and though I’ve installed JetDirect as in all the others, the Printers supplied with the ROOL stuff 1.81 doesn’t seem to know about it. So I guess it’s questions… 1) Can the 1.81 version of Printers do networking? All my other RO machines and emulators are using Printers+ (1.91a) which doesn’t like 32bit, so are there any versions better than 1.81 that do what I want? Thanks |

This problem has now been sorted thanks to advice elsewhere, from Dave Higton. D. |

I’m wondering why this wasn’t in the community support forum, rather than RPCEmu, as it isn’t RPCEmu specific |

For reference, our Network Printer Driver product (on !Store) contains licenced, updated and improved JetDirect drivers as well as our fast background-print LPR drivers. Both can be set up on any version of !Printers (1.53+) via the included setup utility (which supports configuring network print via LPR, JetDirect, LanMan/98 etc). Unless you must use JetDirect (rare), the LPR drivers tend to be faster and smoother, with job queuing, background print, and support for direct print of supported files depending on printer (eg. PDF etc). |
