RPCEmu on Mac OS X El Capitan

I think this has been reported on the RPCEmu mailing list, but I thought I’d drop a line here in case any of the devs keep an eye on the forum. The Menu and Adjust mouse buttons don’t work on RPCEmu for Mac OS. This obviously makes the desktop fairly unusable, so I wondered if there was any chance of it being fixed? Although I can’t roll back to check, I’m fairly sure all was working before the OS X ‘upgrade’, so I think it’s a change in the OS rather than a fault in RPCEmu. Switching between the two mouse emulation modes doesn’t help. I’m using the latest version for the Mac, as updated (I think) by Theo. If anyone’s in a position to look into this, that would be much appreciated here! |

What version of RPCEmu are you using? |

That’s interesting. I’m using 5.23 too, the most recent development download, plus switching back to one from April last year for comparison, on OS X 10.11.13. RPCEmu is 0.8.13-caliston-dev1. I’ve just tried again with a variety of settings (eg mouse-following on and off, etc), and still no Menu or Adjust. Edit: The combination of pressing Option(Alt) on the keyboard with Select brings up a menu – not sure if that’s a RISC OS feature or an RPCEmu one. It makes the system (somewhat) usable, which is progress! |

Well spotted, that helps. And just in time for 0.8.14 too. Previously on Yosemite ‘menu’ and ‘adjust’ clicks did work but only from a USB mouse, not the Magic Mouse and MagicPrefs normally used. This was with OS4.02, 4.04, 4.39 and 6.02 in addition to OS5.23. |

I still wonder why RPCEmu only displays the desktop in a quarter of the window that is presented. I have a MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012). I wondered if the retina display metrics were somehow causing a miscalculation in the extents used in RPCEmu for drawing the screen. |

I did forget to mention that I’m using a MacBook Air (2011), so no external mouse or retina display. The desktop displays OK too. |

I don’t have a retina display, but AFAIK the answer is to ‘Get Info’ on RPCEmu.app and tick “Open in Low Resolution”. HTH. |

I certainly had to do this to get a usable display on my retina MacBook with the previous version of RPCEmu. |

Thanks guys, “Open in Low Resolution” is precisely what was needed! |
