CD-ROM support in RPC-Emu under Risc Os 5.17

Hi,

I have installed RPC-Emu 0.8.8 from ROOL USB stick on a WinXP host.
Under Windows, the additional menu entry under the Setting menu appears (Setting → CD ROM → Host CD/DVD Drive D:) as it should but, after having inserted a RISC OS CD in the CD tray, clicking on the CD icon on the icon bar leads to a complain stating that “CD ROM drive is not found”.
The “CDFS:CDDevices” command states that “no CDROM drive recognized”.
My asking is simple: does Risc OS 5 on a “real Risc PC hardware” (which I understand RPCEmu is) currently support CD-ROM drives?

BTW, in the logs generated by the rpcemu, lines appear as this one:
“Path is \\.\D:
Opening \\.\D:”
Which does not seem to be a valid Win32 path.. or is it?

So for installing any CD based RISC OS software, we’ll have to revert to Risc OS 4.39.. and only thereafter upgrade to RISC OS 5.

How about using images with CDFaker?

I’ll try this and provide my feedback here (once I get my hand on a ISO file build program from a CD content).

Managed to install the software by using the utility pointed to by Trevor and building a ISO image from CD using dd for Windows.
