RPCEmu & macOS Sierra

I’m trying to get RPCEmu (Caliston 0.8.14-dev1) working on macOS Sierra (10.12.2) I can only get a very small RISC OS screen, with a terrible refresh rate, keyboard and mouse input is delayed by several seconds. A screenshot of the RPCEmu window is Here Has anyone got RPCEmu running on macOS Sierra? |

Sadly my wife seldom lets me do things like that with her Mac…but if I do get a chance I’ll see if I can see the same effects. |

It does not display on retina on my new MacBook pro but is fine on an external non-retina screen |

Is Reduce CPU Usage ticked in RPCEmu’s settings? I had mouse and keyboard lag until I turned that off. Also, are you sure Low Resolution’s turned on? Only asking because the window frame in the screenshot doesn’t look low-res and pixellated – it would with that setting applied. I’ve had that setting not take before – seemed to be related to RPCEmu not being in /Applications, although I’m not certain on that (I was testing a new version from my Downloads folder to make sure nothing was broken before overwriting the old one). |

Ah, that worked! And I turned off the Reduce CPU Usage & that fixed the mouse and keyboard lag. Cheers Paul! |

This one’s dead easy to fix. Just select the RPCEmu icon, choose File > Get Info from the menu bar, and in the Info window that opens, turn on the “Open in Low Resolution” checkbox. That’ll fix the problem shown in the screenshot, regardless of where you run the emulator from. (It doesn’t have to be in Applications.) I find that RPCEmu works very well under macOS Sierra, EXCEPT that, unfortunately (and this is a pretty big problem), only the Select mouse button now works. To use Menu and Adjust clicks I have to Select-click with Option and Ctrl respectively. All three button used to work as expected under earlier versions of Mac OS X, but now this new mouse problem has appeared. RISC OS remains usable, but it’s increasingly hard to use certain RISC OS software, especially things that require the Ctrl and Alt keys for their own purposes. I really wish there could be a decent, proper update for RPCEmu on the Mac. It’s really frustrating that it’s as good as it is, yet it’s not properly supported and doesn’t work as well as it should. |

Has anyone managed to get networking working with macOS Sierra? I’ve tried to work out how to update them, but no joy so far. |

Made some progress with this, running RPCEmu using sudo, brings up the tap interface. However after setting up networking in RISC OS, RPCEmu freezes :( Soooo close! |
