A Hint for Mac Users

This is for those of you who already have a copy of Virtual Acorn on your Mac and buy a copy of RPCEmu so you can use RO5.17. To save time and hard disc space you can make the Apps directory in Virtual Acorn available to RPCEmu thus: 1. Go into terminal mode (terminal is in utilities) 2. cd Documents/Shared\ RPCEmu\ data (the backspaces are to allow the terminal to interpret the spaces correctly) 3. mv Apps Apps.safe (this moves your Apps directory to a safe place. I do not recommend deleting your Apps directory – keep a safe copy) 4. ln -s /Applications/VirtualAcorn/VirtualRPC-AdjustSA/HardDisc4/Apps Apps (this links the existing Apps directory in Virtual Acorn to a new Apps directory in RPCEmu). Please note the command is ln – the first and third letters of the word link. Making that clear in case anyone thinks the first letter is a capital I. 5. Boot up RPCEmu and you will see all your apps in the Apps directory. When I boot up I see an error message to tell me that one of my applications isn’t 32 bit compatible, but this does not stop RPCEmu from working – just click quit to get rid of the message. I have tried this – it works and the apps work too. I hope it helps someone else. Mark |

Nice one. It’s probably worth including this in the wiki somewhere appropriate. |
