VRPC-DL RO 5.23

VRPC-DL ARM 710 256Mb memory – bit quicker :-)

Am running RO5.23 (12 May 17) – (modified version) seems ok at the moment.

Copied across some 32bit modules from RedSq.

DL doesn’t seem to have a startup menu – ie to switch between 4.02/5.23.
Using Win Notepad to change between RO4/R05.
ie to change the DL’s config file.

No HardDisc file with RO5.

When pressing f12 – line at bottom of screen starts about a third of the way in.
Also when doing a *mod. – the list of files don’t all start from the left margin.
RedSq doesn’t seem effected.

Setting the VRAM to 0 – and the screen memory slider goes up to 32Mb.
Earlier versions of RO5 let this memory be usable.

Not now – VRAM has to set at 8MB – can RO5.23 be allowed to use all the screen memory again?

VRPC-DL is said to be 64GB only.

RedSq managed 256Mb – but perhaps above 64Mb – hasn’t been tested with DL.
Seems to work with both Ro4.02/RO5.23 – time will tell.

Using Druck’s prog/RO5 to diss-assemble FireFox – ran out of memory – programs didn’t crash.

2×256Mb seems a no no – DL crashes- does RPCemu handle 512Mb main memory?
What is the limit for the hardware Rpc?

RiscOSM 1.39 IOM (TT time again) seems to work ok.
FireFox doesn’t maybe SA only.

Has anyone done – RS232 Serial out – for the VRPC series- or indeed for the RPCEmu?

Hardware memory limit for Risc PCs was 256MiB, with Kinetic upgrade 512MiB. Omega was also 512MiB IIRC, so probably RISC OS versions after 4.02 can handle more than 256MiB.

When I bought my copy of DL the website mentioned both 64MB and 128MB in different places …pointed out to Aaron at the time and it should have been corrected … I am using it at 128MB at preent … would like to go back higher .. perhaps I will try that now – otherwaie I have to drop Netscape when I load some of my larger Artworks or Ovation files!

Possiby due to a hardare problem (old age on this battered Dell 9400) my older licenced copy of VA kept ‘dropping out’ and requiring the code again… it became very frustrating. The DL version avoids that – but with less known memory ‘options’.

I have use 4x 128MB (with two PS2 slot expander) without VRAM (no mechanical space) or 3x 120MB (with one slot expander) without problems but not sure… after 4.02 and before 4.39.
The 4.39 ROMs are working good with RPCEmu.

Using RO 4.02 with VRPC-DL when the wifi is switched off and then back on – Windows logs on again – but if using RO5.23 – it doesn’t work.
Having to quit vrpc and start again.
Using the same 32bit Internet module in both cases – something I may have missed in the 32bitting.
Any ideas?
