Pico for Pi3B+

The current version of RISC OS Pico apparently does not work for the Rpi3B+. It was mentioned on the RISC OS Forums on the RaspberryPi forum board. |

I’ll just repeat what I said last time, which is that I don’t think ROOL have any long-term plans to support it. Since regular ROMs can easily be configured to boot to BASIC in a Pico-like manner, it does seem to be a bit of a redundant build configuration (there’s no special Pico ROM for any of the other platforms!) |

Yup – anything Pico can do, RISC OS can do (just disable auto boot and then enter BASIC instead of the desktop). There’s no pressing reason to have a special Pico build, and furthermore it raises potential compatibility issues for developers exactly because it is a subset of RISC OS. Example? I wasn’t aware that it had no FontManager. Etc etc for all the other missing bits. |
