FTP client?

Did I miss something with FTPc? Is it now owned by RComp? Is there another FTP client that works with RO 5.19? |

FTPc is by Colin Granville, who used to look after !PDF and has done work on Messenger Pro for R-Comp. FTPc has never been open source, but was distributed free of charge. It appears a recompilation of FTPc for ARMv7 is available through the R-Comp software scheme but has not been released generally. Whether it can still be redistributed as the earlier versions can, only someone with access to the new version can answer. |

It looks to me as if version 1.48 can be freely distributed. The help file includes the following: Copyright © 1999 Colin Granville. Over on a thread last year (https://www.riscosopen.org/forum/forums/5/topics/841), Andrew R. said he would make FTPc 1.48 available to everyone (if I’ve read his post right). I guess this wasn’t done/possible? Andrew, can you shed light on this? (I’ll ping him an email in a day or two if he doesn’t chime in). We’re a little stranded on the Pi without a working FTP client… |

Well, if the licence conditions attached to 1.48 are unchanged, there’s nothing stopping someone from putting it up on a website for download. It would certainly be more polite to arrange something with R-Comp or Colin, however! Is it going on the RPi image? |

I fired an email off to Colin and he has kindly posted version 1.48 in the usual place – http://www.ftpc.iconbar.com – and now my RISC OS box has a working copy of FTPc again and order has returned to the world. Hurrah! |
