Most users are in the UK so responses are mostly at certain times of day. I can’t help you with this though sorry. |

What are you running it on – a 30MHz RiscPC or a 1.4GHz Pi3? We might be able to help if you actually gave us something to go on! |

raspberry pi 700mhz i think. it on sdcard. takes 5 minutes to start netsurf and like a minute or 2 just to open start page. |

You say you “put NetSurf on recently”. Was it not already supplied on your SD card? Did you download and install the SD image or did you build it up from various places? Have you changed things in the system configuration? For reference, it takes about three seconds to load on my Pi, and somewhere between 2 and 15 to load ROOL’s forum, but that’s because the WiFi is weak and some days it’s a little slow. |

Try turning off Netsurf’s disc cache, in my experience this caused a lot of slowness/unresponsiveness running Netsurf on a Raspberry Pi. |

good to know!(3 seconds). i downloaded it (not supplied). i downloaded netsurf from their alls site. i followed at least some of the directions as i copied some things to resource or boot directory. i noticed cache option in the settings but i think it is off. so yeah things still super slow :-(. possibly other apps to sometimes but not nearly as much. perphaps i dont have system directory setup correctly. |

so a couple of weeks ago i used dd in raspbian to put the complete already made risc os from here. works fast :-)! so how did i manage the past few years? was risc os in something similar to hard float soft float difference, making processor in slow mode? |

When Netsurf starts up it scans your fonts and makes a cache in !Scrap, if you’ve got a lot of fonts or large unicode ones, this can be very slow. If you don’t preserve your !Scrap (if storing it on a RAM disc), it will be slow starting every time. |
