Sunfish

I’ve been having some problems with Sunfish, on my Pi 2 running 5.24. This used to work fine, but I haven’t used RISC OS in a year or so. Coming back to it today, it seems extremely broken. I’ve tried the version from PackMan, and the version from the authors website, and get different problems. From PackMan: Opening the “Servers” window works fine (though it is empty), entering a hostname or an IP address into “Search for a host” results in “Sunfish may have gone wrong. Internal error: abort on data transfer &0005E240” Then Sunfish exits. From the authors website: Opening the “Servers” window results in “Error when sending or receiving data (Unknown error: 1)”. It doesn’t exit, but entering a hostname results on the same error as above, at &0081880. Then it exits. This used to work fine, on the same hardware. Is this a known issue, or am I doing something wrong? It’s a fresh install of the 5.24 image on a Raspberry Pi 2. |

I don’t have a solution, but I can confirm that the problem also exists on a Raspberry Pi 1 running 5.27. |

I apologize in advance for resurrecting a dead thread but is anyone successfully using Sunfish on a Pi today? For me it’s still broken in exactly the same way as above. If it’s terminal, are there any recommended network file transfer tools? I’m been fighting with Omni but can’t get it connect to my SMB server at all. |

I’m using Moonfish rather than Sunfish, but IIRC both require alignment exceptions off in order to be stable enough to use. There are still things that can crash them, but normal use is OK. And you’ll need ZeroPain running too, if you’re using a high vectors version of RO. |

Whilst it does crash if I do ‘Search for Host’, I’m able to use Sunfish on Pi 3, through an image file. Create a file with:
(obviously changing the settings as appropriate), set the filetype to Sunfish, then double-click on it and fingers crossed your directory appears. |

Julie, thanks for the image file tip, that works great! Much appreciated. |
