RISC OS 5 Toolbox StrongHelp Manual?

I’m slowly trying to work my way through understanding use of the Toolbox from BASIC. I am occasionally coming unstuck however as it appears the Toolbox StrongHelp manual supplied by ROOL on the RC16 disc image is maybe for the RISC OS Select version of the Toolbox(!). One particular example is for the TextGadgets module, and the TextArea gadget, which refers to being able to set flags for various options, including dragging a file into the textarea, but setting those flags then gives an error that these flags are reserved. The SH manual refers to features in the TextGadgets module v0.67 & v0.86 but the version supplied RISC OS 5.24 is v0.44.

In short, is there a version of the Toolbox manual which only refers the ROOL Toolbox rather than having to wade through deciding what bits are and aren’t relevent to RISC OS 5? Using the Toolbox from BASIC is difficult enough to work out from scratch without the ‘officially supplied’ documentation being seemingly for a different version of the OS!

(I know there’s a bounty to maybe, perhaps, resolve these issues at some point in the future, but that doesn’t help anyone trying to code now!)

I ran into this same problem a while ago. There’s a PDF manual included with the DDE, but as far as I know there’s no StrongHelp manual for ROOL’s version of the Toolbox.

I must have missed your thread. Yes, it seems ROOL are distributing documentation for ROL’s Toolbox!

I don’t think the PDF covers the “new” gadgets not included with the original Toolbox, such as Text Areas & Scroll Lists though, does it?

I think you’re right; some of the newer stuff is missing. I think we might just have to be patient and/or contribute to the bounty.
