For what it is worth, the tutorial for SafeStore specifically describes how to automate backup of your email with specific reference to NewsDir, as we know how important email is to people. I do try to be as responsible as possible when encouraging good practise. I know it is my fault. I even felt so paranoid 18 months ago that I backed up my e-mail. I did not implement SP12 because I decided to analyse what had changed from SP8 to SP12 (as there was nothing to say what had changed). I then forgot. One organisation has issued instructions printed in Red capital letters and underlined to indicate that the instruction is mandatory. Then it has deprecated the use of colour copiers. I make sure I print them out on a black and white laser printer… |

I’d get paranoid if I hadn’t imaged the SD card1 in 18 weeks, never mind months. I’m sure you’ll back up important stuff more regularly from now on. And just like a car crash, a couple of seconds of inattention and it was all over. And it was all gone. Back up regularly. 1 Good thing about SD cards is they’re small enough to be copied sector by sector to a harddisc for backups. 2 Not that landing the other way up would have made any difference. |

You’ll probably find that has less to do with analytics and more to do with emails these days being sent out MIME formatted, with a copy in HTML just in case one wants to use markup to stick an important word in italics. I had to grizzle at one of our developers earlier this week after he decided to “improve” the “A-Z index” page on our site. The old page showed a full list of every page on the site, sorted alphabetically. The new page lists 20 at a time with Next/Previous buttons, yet these lists of 20 somehow manage to be a little over five times the size of the old complete list. |

The Google landing page, looks pretty simple doesn’t it? Well, have fun trying to figure out exactly how massive it really is (try a full save from Firefox). Your jaw will drop. |
