i have a raspberry pi zero and i’m willing to try risc os. i’ve already cloned it on the micro sd card. how can i start using risc os for the first time? headless, without monitor and mouse or keyboard. my plan is ethernet over usb, and then ssh fom linux or windows. how can i config risc os to have remote access? can i edit files on the sd card? |

RISC OS is primarily a graphical OS and many of the apps will expect to run within the desktop. If you want to run headless then you might want to install something like vnc_serv and then use a VNC client to drive the desktop. I don’t know whether something like SSH is available, but my gut says no; there isn’t really an “sh” to SSH in to. |

For taskwindow/terminal stuff you could try running Jeffery Lee’s NetTask telnet server. |

I run the Raspberry Pi headless under RISC OS but to set it up I use a monitor mouse and keyboard. My headless set up generates a full RISC OS desktop (but as there is no monitor it isn’t seen) and communicates using an OLED display connected to the I2C pins. I also have push buttons connected to the GPIO pins and a GPS module connected to the serial port. A desktop error, normally communicated via an error window, causes a shut down, start up cycle.
