Rebuilding Charm with VFP Support on Rpi

I tried to recompile Charm for my RaspPi to get full VFP support. I followed the instructions on Charm website, but when re-building the tools-folder charm crashed with an internal error. It crashed when linking the assember-tool, as i can see in the logging window. I asked Peter Nowosad for help, but he did not reply. Has anyone tried to rebuild Charm for VFP? What did the error say? The Charm website says this:

Hi, Animé download taking forever (hehe, Saturday, so me and everybody else, eh). So I had fifteen minutes spare. Downloaded Charm, popped it onto the Pi, followed the instructions, everything worked without a hitch (if you ignore the eccentric keyboard, that’s not Charm’s fault). If you don’t have any luck with getting yours to build (Charm looks like it builds itself, whoo, I like that!), I have zipped up my build, a VFP capable version, and put it at: http://www.heyrick.co.uk/random/charmmy_kitty.zip I would have done so a little earlier, but I kinda got sidetracked with the Mandelbrot. Reminds me of Fractale ! So, sorry, can’t help you with your error, but hopefully the VFP build will be a suitable alternative. ;-) |

Volkert, I tried to get in touch with you by e-mail but obviously these messages did not get through. There was a problem with the image on the web-site after I patched it to remove generation of an arm assembly file $.t when re-building which Andrew Rawnsley noticed. This was inadvertently left in after testing new directives to create .arm and .lst files from inside Charm source code. Anyhow, I re-built the release and checked it installed and built ok, and then replaced the download archive on the web site – so that’s the explanation for why it’s working again now. …Pete |

Thanks Pete for the update. Is there a public charm forum? I know that there is a Facebook Charm Group, but i don’t like the idea to open a FB accout only discus charm issues ;-) BW, |

You could try the tumblr link http://riscos-charm.tumblr.com/ask from the http://charm.qu-bit.co.uk/ forum page if you don’t have a facebook account. |
